Student Email FAQs

All official communications will be sent to you at your Marian University student email address. Your login credentials will also allow you to sign in to other campus-wide systems requiring a login.


HOW DO I CHANGE MY PASSWORD? (OR HOW DO I UNLOCK MY ACCOUNT?)

To change your email password, either click the Forgot password link from the My Marian page (https://my.marianuniversity.edu) or go to https://reset.marianuniversity.edu and follow the instructions. Your new password will take effect immediately.  For more detailed instructions, please contact the HelpDesk.

HOW DO I ACCESS MY EMAIL ACCOUNT?

To access your email account, go to the My Marian page (https://my.marianuniversity.edu) and login.  Then click the Check email link. 

What features are included with my email account?

You have access to the following:

  • Email with up to 25 gigabytes of storage
  • Outlook Calendar and contacts
  • Mobile features
  • Onedrive with 7 gigabytes of cloud file storage and sharing

How large is my email quota (storage space)?

Exchange Online currently provides each student with 25 GB of storage for email and calendar content. Your email quota cannot be increased.

What are the benefits of the Marian University email?

Your Marian University email account is a cloud-based email service that offers significant advantages over traditional email services like Gmail and Hotmail. We use Microsoft Exchange as the backend for our email, contact, calendar and task management, all of which can be shared on the Marian University network. This same service is used by many large organizations for internal and external communications and collaboration. In addition to email, the calendar feature is an appointment book that lets other students check your availability and helps you budget your time and not miss appointments. Your contacts are stored in an address book that will allow you to easily find contact information and create contact groups.

Can I use my account after I graduate?

Yes. Marian University student email accounts are FREE lifetime accounts and can be used after graduation.

Do I need to use specific hardware or software, such as a Windows PC or Microsoft Internet Explorer?

No. All web-based services included can be accessed from Windows, Mac or Linux operating systems. This includes Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and other web browsers on computers that run UNIX, Apple Macintosh or Microsoft Windows operating systems. Will someone at Microsoft be reading my email?

No, Microsoft personnel will not read your email. For more information, refer to Microsoft’s statements on privacy located at:

Am I required to use the Marian University student email service?

Yes. All official university business will be sent to your Marian University student email address. Assistance in accessing your email from your SmartPhone is available at the HelpDesk. 

Does the Marian University email service include spam filtering?

Yes. All versions of the Microsoft cloud-based email service use Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) to combat spam and phishing. For more information, see Spam Filtering and Message Hygiene at http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/dd251294.aspx.

Is data in my Marian University email account backed up?

No. Email messages, contacts, calendar items, etc. are NOT backed up. We recommend that you manually backup your critical documents.

How do I contact the Marian University HelpDesk?

The Marian University HelpDesk is located on the second floor of the Science Building, Room 210.  Their hours are:   Monday through  Friday,  7:30 am to 6:30 pm   and    Saturday – 8:00 am to noon
