Loss on the Frontlines:
A course designed to bring students into the lives of those working with all types of those on the front, and to expand from here to look at which front line people they know or want to work with.
This course is designed to look at issues you may not have thought about, and to challenge you to apply thanatology to those lives and experiences. To research an area that matters most to you. We will have three live sessions, which will be recorded. I am available by email and text. Students will find if they reach out, they will hear back from me. (I have answered from out of the country and while evacuated for fire- I will respond!).
This course is also designed for you to locate the resource materials for your research papers. That can include original interviews with your subject choice.
The interviews you will be watching were not scripted. The language may be colorful. The situations described are real. The interviewees are open to you reaching out to them. This is an interactive course- because that is how I learn, and how I teach, even online and on recorded videos. I want you to feel part of it.
I would like to see a paper at the end that is publishable quality. That means cites, and one that matters enough to you to want it to be read by others. I have been known to cite dissertations in presentations, because those writing them are eager and they are writing about something they know and that matters to them. Make your paper that kind of paper. There is no defined length. You can send me works in progress.
If you cannot make it to the live classes, you can access the videos. They will all be saved to YouTube. I will post the meetings as soon as they are done.
