Field-based exploration of utilizing art process to form healthy person-centered relationships with populations in need of support. Explore how art can facilitate research in experience-based directives.
This course provides students the opportunity to design and share a service-learning expressive arts project/s to meet the needs of designated populations in the larger Fond du Lac community. In-class planning, reflection and guidance will prepare students for a real life experience in sharing the personal development tools and processes of expressive and therapeutic arts. Possible outreach communities may include after school programs, persons suffering from grief or loss, special needs children and adults, elder care, wellness programs or women transitioning from prison. Attention will be given to creating a safe environment to support the emotional, physical, spiritual and cultural development of participants.
