    • Hello MSN Students,

We'd love to hear from you! Please take a few minutes to share your honest feelings about how things are going in the nursing program using the link provided above. Your input is crucial and will help us improve the program for all students.

You are invited to share concerns, feedback, or suggestions related to the overall operation of the MSN program and how we can better support the student body. This includes topics like resource availability, curriculum structure, and general program policies.

Please note the following important distinction:

      • ✅ Appropriate Concerns for the form: Program structure, student resource needs, general policies, and systemic support issues.
      • ❌ Inappropriate Concerns for the form: Issues related to an individual student's performance in a specific course (e.g., a grade dispute or concerns about a single assignment). For these individual, course-specific concerns, you must contact the course instructor directly. If escalation is required, please follow the formal reporting structure outlined in the Student Handbook.
The insights you share here will be discussed at our next Graduate Program Meeting, held on the second Friday of each month (during the fall and spring semesters).  If you'd like to join the conversation in person, feel free to email Dr. Janet Teske, the Graduate Program Director, at jjteske86@marianuniversity.edu.

We'll be sure to provide an update after the meeting to address your feedback.

      Thanks so much,
The Nursing Department at Marian University
    • Dear Nursing Students,

By now, you have likely seen the announcement from President Sadoff regarding the transition to a single University Commencement ceremony each May. While this marks a change in the broader university schedule, I want to reach out to provide clarity and reassurance regarding our cherished nursing tradition.

The Marian University Nursing Program will continue to hold two Pinning Ceremonies every year. Regardless of the changes to the larger commencement schedule, we remain committed to honoring our graduates at the conclusion of their specific journeys.

Our schedule will remain as follows:
The nursing pin is a symbol with deep historical roots, popularized by Florence Nightingale. While the tradition is universal, the pin itself is personal. Each nursing school designs its own unique pin, creating a lasting symbol of the specific institution where a nurse began their journey.  The Marian University pin carries a particularly special legacy: it was designed by our very first graduating class in 1968. When you wear it, you aren't just wearing a symbol of nursing; you are wearing the history of our program.

Holding a separate Pinning Ceremony does not diminish your achievement; it enhances it. By maintaining our December ceremony for our winter and summer grads, we ensure that your specific milestone is celebrated in the moment it is reached.

While Commencement is a broad academic celebration of your degree, Pinning is an intimate, nursing-specific rite of passage. It allows us the time and space to focus solely on the nursing profession and the unique bond you share with your faculty and peers. This is your moment to be recognized for the "heart and science" you bring to the bedside.
We look forward to celebrating your hard work, your resilience, and your entry into this noble profession.

      Sincerely,
      Dr. Cheryl Seelig
