MO2 downtime to occur Friday, May 25, 2018, between 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM CDT.

Marian University is conducting a scheduled upgrade of our MO2 Moodle learning management system from version 3.3 to version 3.4. The upgrade will bring our system up to date with the latest Moodle version and features.

The anticipated downtime will occur Friday, May 25, 2018, between 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM CDT. During this time, MO2 will not be accessible. Instructors should plan accordingly and encourage their students to do likewise.

Following the upgrade, users will notice some changes to the look and feel of MO2. These changes will be relatively minor, but may require users to have a quick look around to get reacquainted.

Some more significant updates to be aware of:

When Marian previously upgraded to version 3.3, a new option called "calculate end date based on number of sections" was added under edit settings for a course when using the weekly format. There is no longer a "number of sections" option within edit settings for the course. Moving forward, these can be added from the main course page once editing is turned on.

There can be an unusual impact on existing courses that have empty sections. For example, if a course had 15 weeks but no content, after the upgrade it may appear as if the course has no weeks. The instructor will need to set an end date and add the weeks or topics back to the course. Or, if they import content from a previous term that will bring the structure over as well.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to provide Marian students an exceptional learning experience.
