Developing Effective Questioning Techniques

Build Background Knowledge

Read the following article from ASCD on the Effective Questioning: PLAN 5 model for developing questions.

Practice Your Skills

Using the PLAN 5 model or the strategies from the CITL article below, develop four, higher-level questions for each of your goals developed in Week 2. Post your questions in the discussion thread for this module.

Collaborate

Read the following article from Center for Innovation on Teaching and Learning (CITL) on Planning Questions, focus specifically on Handling Student Responses to Questions

CITL Article: http://citl.illinois.edu/teaching-resources/teaching-strategies/questioning-strategies

Reply to two of your peers answering (to the best of your ability) at least two of their higher-level questions as if you were their student, craft the responses with critical thought.

Reply to your peers responses to your questions using the information from the CITL article on Handling Student Responses to Questions.

In order for this to be effective, you will need to return to the post often over the next week to engage in discussion with your peers.

Optional Exploration
